Pondicherry is a Union Territory in India, now known as Puducherry. The history of the city can be traced back to the first half of 1st Century AD. A remarkable degree of French influence is still clear in this city. Official languages of Pondicherry are French, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. The world famous Airobindo Ashram, Auroville is situated in Pondicherry. Sri Aurobindo was one of India's most renowned Freedom Fighter and Spiritualist.

Having four main beaches, Puducherry beaches are beautiful with exquisite coastline. The four beaches are called the Promenade, Paradise beach, Serenity Beach and the Auroville Beach. Auroville, the experimental township of Pondicherry starkly stands out from the rest of the genre. Its purpose is to realise human unity in diversity, and is a popular tourist destination. It is a unique experience being in Pondicherry. You also have a sequence of significant temples, mosques and churches to see. Pondicherry hosts the International Yoga festival every year in January. Beach Road is something you should not miss once you are in Pondicherry.

The Pondicherry Museum is located on Saint Louis street, another attraction with its Bronze gallery displays and Pre-christian relics, have another five more museums to its credit. The Botanical Gardens in Pondicherry is laid out in 1826 in the ornate French style, with pruned trees, beautiful flower beds and gravel lined paths and fountains. Some of the other must-see places include Bharathi Park, Keezhoor (with its huge banyan tree), Chunnambhar backwaters (a tropical paradise) and much more.
